Every wood cutting board I make uses kiln-dried, quality hardwoods. Each is finished with a hand rubbed, pre-conditioner (see Safety Issues for more) which is totally organic, food-safe and seals the wood from moisture.  Each is Signed & Dated by the artisan/craftsman Frank Beck.

This board has been created out of 5 separate pieces of Argentine Mesquite Wood. It's basically a central piece of wood with a border of 4 pieces laminated together. A very special board.

The back side of board #4284. It is completely finished and can be used for cutting on also. Both sides have been pre-conditioned with 2 hand rubbed coats of a bees wax based sealant. Approximate size is; 10-1/4" x 16" x 3/4".

END GRAIN CUTTING BOARDS
Shown below are various samplings of end grain cutting boards I have custom designed & handmade for customers. End grain Cutting Boards are made by turning several pieces of wood wish the end grain cut face up and then gluing them together. There are several distinct advantages to a end grain cutting surface as opposed to a long grain surface. Not only do they look beautiful but they are the supreme cutting surface used in butcher shops for centuries. The surface is much harder and more durable than regular cutting boards and resists knife marks as well as keeping your knives sharp longer. A regular cutting board with the grain running the length of the board will soon show signs of wear due to the knife edge severing and crushing the wood fibers. Some of the wood grain may even break loose and splinter creating a rough porous surface serving as a hiding place for bacteria. With a end grain board the wood fibers are standing on end allowing the knife edge to pass between the wood fibers there for extending the life of the board.

END GRAIN CUTTING BOARD/CHOPPING BLOCK
This one came out really nice. It's hand crafted using 9-1-1/4" wide cuts of endgrain Sonora Mesquite wood, laminated together and bordered by a 1/2 ribbon of additional Sonora Mesquite.

I have not added bumper feet to this board because of so much turquoise inlay on both sides. Without the feet, either side can be used. The turquoise is from the Sleeping Beauty Mine in Arizona. Approximate size is; 13-3/4" x 9" x 1-1/2" thick. This is a true heirloom quality board, one that you will pass on to the next generation. Item #4502.
